Director- Data Scientist, GroupM Nexus Data & Analytics Team, India Hub

 

Overview of role

 

Our UK team aspires to build an offshore hub in India to work alongside the UK team. We need an experienced professional to build and lead the practice, with a focus on the modelling elements of MMM. Reporting the Director of the Data Science & Modelling in the India Hub this is an exciting opportunity to set up and shape a market leading MMM unit.

 

We envisage the initial months will be focused on establishing a cohesive team that are set up to work together as a unit, and smoothly with the UK team. There will be a big focus on training and processes to make the partnership work. Over this period, as the team grows, we will start to transition MMM projects across to the India hub, but with dual responsibilities for delivery across both the India hub and UK team.

 

Once established, our ambition is to run a significant proportion of our MMM work out of the India hub, notably for the Data and Modelling elements of the MMM project cycles. The India hub Account Lead (Modelling) will focus on providing best practice modelling to support the delivery of MMM analytics.

 

The Account Lead (Modelling) is responsible for running a team of analysts, overseeing and fronting the modelling processes across a number of clients. The Account Lead (Modelling) is the day to day modelling lead, understanding the various methodologies required, ensuring statistically robust but intuitive outputs are produced, building relationships and capitalizing on opportunities to grow our analytics further.

Measures of success

 

In three months, you would have:

  • Supported on the recruitment of those within your team
  • Developed a good working relationship with the UK team and Direct Reports
  • Understanding the ways of working and processes that will be required to ensure smooth future working across the two locations

 

In six months, you would have:

  • Successfully taken on your first projects from the UK, working smoothly with the UK team
  • Built strong relationship with the UK team whilst managing and supporting development of your team of Direct Reports.

 

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Successfully taken on projects from the UK to the hub’s full capacity
  • Led the delivery of a number of projects, demonstrating an ability to anticipate and manage project needs. Built a reputation as an expert within the team and contributed towards the development of the department’s overall strategy and direction

 

Responsibilities of the role

 

  • Lead a team of circa 6 direct reports with responsibility for their growth and development through regular feedback
  • Ensure delivery of best in class modelling and analytics projects to our clients
  • Responsible for the delivery of significant income annually with a large amount of complexity to the role
  • Be the senior modelling sponsor, responsible for the overall modelling processes and quality of work delivered
  • Drive efficiencies and improved ways of working with your team
  • Challenge and stretch outputs of modelling projects
  • Work closely with the Data and Client elements of the Data Science and Modelling team to deliver market leading MMM analytics to our clients
  • Contribute towards the department’s annual income growth targets through targeted and ongoing efficiency improvements
  • Have a keen awareness and leadership regarding project profitability

What you will need

 

  • At least 7 year’s hands on experience in Market Mix Modelling, with rich and complete data sets
  • In-depth and technical knowledge and experience of Market Mix Modelling and other analytical tools and techniques used in marketing analytics
  • Experience working with clients from a variety of sectors
  • Able to anticipate and manage the needs/demands of senior stakeholders, by using influence and negotiation skills
  • Sound judgement with proven experience in delivering solutions and decisions that positively impact GroupM Nexus Hub or client businesses
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Keen attention to detail with a questioning mindset
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects/clients
  • Advanced knowledge of modelling within R, or other statistical software
  • Knowledge of programming language (e.g. R, Python) desirable
  • Strong commercial acumen
